Wooden Ships Comments

10′ clinker rowing dinghy believed to have been built around 1930.

Kept in the same family ownership since about 1970, she has taught more than one generation how to row a boat on Lake Windermere.

Appears to be in reasonably sound structural condition with all timbers replaced by present owners.

Light enough to be lifted onto the roof of a car by 2 people but stable enough to be a pracitcal and handy dinghy while afloat.

Ideal project for the keen amateur looking for a boat to put in the garage and refit through the winter.

Construction

Clinker planked in mahogany, all copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers.

All timbers replaced many years ago and look to be sound.

Oak stem and knees with a mahogany transom.  Mahogany gunnels and rubbing strake.

Repaired at the bows starboard side after she was hit by a steamer on Lake Windermere.

Mahogany thwarts with sawn oak knees.

2 rowing positions, she comes with a single pair of oars and rowlocks.
