Construction
Larch planking on heavy sawn oak frames.
Oak back-bone. Long external iron ballast keel.
Superstructure incorporating a central wheel-house with coach-roof aft and forward. Mahogany coamings, sheathed ply decks.
Marine ply bulkheads
All original varnished mahogany joinery.
Wheel steering with traditional spoked wheel operating cables to the rudder stock in the lazarette.
Solid laid teak deck, joggled to a king plank on forward and after decks.
Varnished mahogany toe rails.
Bronze cleats forward and aft.
Twin chain rollers to the stemhead.
Galvanised stanchion posts, pulpit and push-pit with twin guard wires.
Mahogany coach-roof coamings and wheel-house, painted outside, varnished inside.
Chrome framed windows to the wheel-house. Centre window forward opens, Clearview screen in the port window in front of the helm.
Sky-light on the forward coach-roof.
Several bronze vents on both aft and forward coach-roofs.
Bermudian sloop rig sets 400sq’ on varnished timber mast, stepped in a heavy tabernacle on the forward coach-roof.
Galvanised standing rigging. Twin lowers and cap shrouds to the main mast to internal galvanised chain plates. Single fore stay, single standing back-stay.
Bronze halyard winch on the tabernacle
Goose neck mast band with belay pins.
Varnished boom sheets to 2-point anchor on the after coach-roof with tufnol blocks with jammer.
Gardner 60hp 4-cylinder diesel with Gardner gear box and conventional shaft drive. Good access with wheel house sole boards lifted.
Max speed 7.5knts.
Original Gardner bronze lever controls – separate throttle and gear selector levers.
2 x 12v batteries in a box in the engine space.
Original heavy duty fuses, switches and meters on the wheel-house bulkhead, stbd side.
Invoices seen for work on the engine in the last few years including new prop, exhaust and silencer and batteries.
Accommodation. 5 berths.
Aft cabin with port and stbd berths in a V, lockers under, stack of drawers between in the V.
Locker door in the after bulkhead to access the lazarette.
Steps up to wheel-house with seating and a drop leaf table. Engine under the sole.
Helm in the forward port corner, chart surface in forward stbd corner. Instrumentation above the helm.
Steps down forward to a lobby with the galley to stbd and a heads compartment to port.
The galley is fitted with a substantial stainless steel Shipmate diesel-fired cooker – a professional ship’s cooker not unlike an Aga with hotplate and oven. Also provides hot water to galley sink and heads. Lagged HW cylinder mounted on the bulkhead above the cooker also fitted with 240v immersion coil on shore-side power supply.
Stainless steel sink and drainer with pressurised H & C. Drawers etc below.
The port side heads compartment has a Simpson Lawrence sea toilet, porcelain hand basin and a shower.
Bulkhead door through to the large owner’s cabin with generous port and stbd berths
Door to fore peak cabin with low level seat to port.
Sea toilet in the after port corner under a mahogany box.
