Wooden Ships Comments on this Holman Super Sovereign Ketch

Holman Super Sovereign ketch designed by Kim Holman and built by his brother Jack at the Uphams yard, Brixham.  This was the development of the popular Sovereign with an increase in dimensions and internal volume.  The extra space gave more headroom and more berths, plus a longer waterline length giving faster passage times.

This yacht has been in the present family since 1970 when she was bought from Jack Holman.  He had built her for himself which explains the high quality timber used in the build.

In the present ownership she has been used as a family cruising boat exploring the English Channel and north coasts of France and for most of her life has been used every weekend throughout the summer.

She is perfectly designed for family cruising with an easily managed ketch rig giving plenty of sail options for differing weather conditions, a very deep, comfortable and safe cockpit with shelter from the spray hood and a spacious interior with 6 berths and ample headroom.

She has been very well maintained and is a credit to the careful eye of the owner.  Age however has forced them to consider passing her on to a new home.
