Wooden Ships Comments on this Holman Sterling Bermudan Sloop

Designed by Kim Holman, this Sterling was built by his brother Jack at the Uphams yard in Brixham in 1965, the last of 19 Sterlings built.

Often thought of as the cruising sister to the Twister, these boats are a delight to sail and have a generous volume for their dimensions with a large comfortable cockpit, good headroom and 4 berths.

This yacht was bought by the current owners after being laid up ashore for a number of years and has been brought up to a good standard in recent years, cruised extensively around local waters and lavished with much care and attention.

Her rig, rigging and sails were all new and first used in 2018.  The engine has had a complete rebuild and is in very good order.  The interior has been painted, had new upholstery and the galley refitted with a new stove and sink.

The owners have changed their sailing plans and moved on to a larger yacht for more extended cruising so wish to find a loving new home for this nice yacht.

2018 survey available with a full list of work done since that time.

Accommodation

4 berths including a large double in the saloon and twin berths in the forepeak.

All new upholstery in 2018.

Steps down into the main cabin over the engine box with galley to starboard and chart desk to port.

Chart desk faces outboard with storage drawers below and lockers outboard under the deck head.

Galley has an LP Voyager 4500 2 burner gas stove with oven and grill, set on gimbals.  All recently fitted.  Single stainless sink with manually pumped fresh water.  Good quantity of storage space around the galley.

Half height bulkheads with grab handles separate off the main saloon.  Originally the boat had 2 single berths with trotter boxes, however the starboard side trotter box has been lost with the installation of the new galley stove and this berth is now a bit shorter.  The current owners have equipped the boat with the necessary foam to create a large double berth athwartships in the saloon, very useful when in harbour.

Storage space behind each settee back and under the deck head.

Saloon table is a clever design used by Holman that folds away against the forward bulkhead when not in use.

Centreline passageway going forward with a manual Jabsco sea toilet to port which discharges directly overboard.  Hanging lockers to port.  The doors of the two bulkheads close up to create a large heads compartment right across the breadth of the boat.

Forepeak has two single berths with a chain locker between and storage beneath.  Forehatch above.
