Wooden Ships Comments on this Holman bermudan sloop

Designed by Kim Holman and built by Tucker Brown of Burnham on Crouch in 1965.  Holman designed the boat for himself and therefore was particularly fastidious about the materials and skills used in her construction making her an excellent yacht with a particularly top quality construction.  She is effectively his North Sea 24 design with a counter added making her extremely elegant and pleasing on the eye but she also has remarkable performance.

Shaker was the last yacht Holman raced and coming at the end of his career she embodied many of his ideals and could be considered a culmination of his life’s work.  Indeed he described the boat as his all time favourite design and she was highlighted as such in his obituary.

Shaker underwent a thorough refit in 2016 with the current owner and is now in lovely condition and ready to race and cruise next summer.
