Wooden Ships Comments on this 5 ton Hillyard

5 ton Hillyard designed and built by Hillayrds of Littlehampton in 1957.  Cruised extensively by the previous owner around the West Country and over to France.  Bought by the present owner in 2015 after a period of neglect, she had repairs carried out by a professional shipwright including work to the deck, main bulkhead replacement and  repair to the rudder.  Unfortunately family circumstances have forced the owners to put her up for sale.

Hillyards built no nonsense simple yachts for sensible money which enabled more people to get afloat and enjoy sailing.  The 5 tonner is one of the smaller boats in their range but offers a comfortable interior, good headroom with 4 berths, a decent size cockpit and acceptable sailing performance all in a small and manageable yacht.
