The 9 tonner was possibly the most popular of Hillyards boats, offering plenty of accommodation, a safe cockpit, easily handled rig and good sailing capabilities all in a 32' yacht. this is a particularly nice example which has been in a long experienced ownership with regular maintenance and attention to detail. She was built for the parents of the present owner and sailed by him as a young boy. 6 berths in fore and aft sleeping cabins plus the saloon. Built by Harry King of Pin Mill to a design by Alan Buchanan, typical of the time with short overhangs, elegant sheer and a cut away forefoot. In the present long and very experienced ownership she has sailed to the Azores and up to Shetland. A very nice example of the Sovereign ketch which has had a very extensive refit in the last 15 years including new Beta Marine engine and systems, new rig and sails and a new deck. She has only been in the water for 2 months since completion of this work and has only 15 hours on the engine. 4 berths with a good size interior for her length, lots of deck space and a safe cockpit. Designed and built by the Servain Shipyard, Normandy for the ex premier of Monaco, she underwent a major refit in 2007 when the present owners purchased her. Used mainly as a regatta boat she has been a regular in the classic Mediterranean regattas. Iroko on oak hull with a new solid teak deck in 2007. 4 berths in an open and spacious interior. The North Sea 24 was always a popular Holman design, steady, reliable and capable of good passage times. One of several built by Holman's brother Jack in his Devon boatyard. 5 berths, Yanmar 20hp diesel and a spacious saloon. A good quality traditional cruising 9 tonner. An adaptation of the H28 designed by Herreshoff and built by Cheoy Lee of Hong Kong in 1967 with GRP hull and decks. Yacht laid teak deck over the GRP and varnished teak coamings compliment the traditional long keel design to give a pretty, comfortable and easily handled family cruising yacht. 4 berths with good headroom, Volvo 19hp diesel. Neglected for 2 years due to illness and now sadly an executor sale, the boat has been thoroughly cleaned and checked recently. The Dee 25 was a highly successful yacht designed by Peter Brett, more widely known for the Rival range of yachts. The Dee 25 won acclaim in many offshore races including the Fastnet and proved itself as a fast and sea worthy design. Designed by Knud Reimers as a one off but the similarities to his famous and very successful Tumlare can be seen. Rebuilt by the present professional shipwright owner to an exceptionally high standard with all new frames and fastenings, new keel bolts, new deck, new interior, systems and rig. Perfectly presented and ready to go sailing, perfect for regatta racing as she is light enough to be transported on a road trailer behind a 4x4 vehicle. It would be hard to find a smarter more crisp boat of her type.
The Honey Bee 28 was conceived as part of a yacht design competition held by the Glasgow Evening Standard, apparently influenced by some of Kim Holmans designs. A solid cruising yacht with a comfortable cockpit, full length berths and full standing headroom. Recent major refit with new engine, rigging, sails, systems and upholstery, she is a well equipped yacht in tidy condition and ready to go cruising. Mahogany on oak construction with a laid teak over ply deck. Sole 2cyl diesel new in 2011.
