This boat has been in the same family for approximately 40 years, of which 30 stored ashore. “Gräsgård 325″ was built for the Swedish Maritime Administration in 1945 most likely in the harbour of Ystad on the southern coast of Sweden. Her active period in service was on the island of Öland in the small harbour of Gräsgård on the southeastern side of the island. It is said the present harbour was built to accomodate this boat! Rumour has it that the intended skipper lived nearby and as there was no harbour one had to be built. She was located there from 1945 until approximately 1972. She was thereafter sold to the father of the present owner. Sadly no documentation has been found but undoubtably many launches took place during this time.
Original equipment such as anchors, a spare rudder, binnacle, drogue and oars are still there. She is in very original condition and sound as far as can be seen, but the whole boat needs to be scraped down to bare wood.
This is in every sense of the word a rare find, a boat like this does not appear on the market very often. Definitely a boat for the collector who appreciates true quality in build and materials. Money was no object when this boat was built.
The boat is available for viewing on land in Smygehuk, which is the southernmost cape of Sweden and only forty minutes from Copenhagen International airport.

Hull is double diagonal mahogany carvel planking on steamed oak timbers.
With three keels and a bronze lifting keel she stands upright when dried out.
Her massive propeller is housed in a tunnel for protection and is accessible through a hatch on deck.
The entire hull houses custom made air tight copper tanks, making her unsinkable. She is very strongly built, like rescue boats were, and fitted out with the most beautiful custom made hardware, mostly bronze and brass, but also hot dipped galvanized iron.
Originally fitted with one mast and steadying sails. Not rigged at present.
85 hp 6 cyl. Volvo Penta engine with hydraulic transmission, all housed in a watertight bronze box.
Basically an open boat but a small compartment exists forward with two benches/bunks.
Protected steering position aft.
