Wooden Ships Comments on this Gaff Cutter Yacht
The boat was built for the Ex-Premier of Monaco, Pierre Malvy from the design of Servain Boatyard, Normandy, who built the original French Pilot Cutters in the 19th century.
After several owners, the present owner bought her in 2007 and has since carried out renovations as described below. She was used as a Classic Regatta yacht for most of her life and is now in superb condition and ready for a new owner.
Construction
Planked in Iroko on oak frames.
Solid yacht laid teak deck, renewed in 2007. Mahogany coachroof coamings.
Long keel, transom hung rudder with tiller steering.
Deck fittings, including chainplates, new in 2007.
Cast iron ballast keel. 350kg internal lead trimming ballast.
Rig
Gaff cutter rig on a keel stepped Spruce mainmast.
Oregon pine boom and bowsprit. New bowsprit in 2007.
Sails new 2008 by Rolly Tasker Sails.
Mainsail, gaff topsail, jib, flying jib, cutter staysail, spare genoa.
Machinery
Volvo Penta 20hp diesel installed new in 1992. Shaft & 3 blade propeller new in 2007.
Cruising speed 5 kts, max 6-7 kts.
Electrics: 12v. 2 x batteries, new 2013. All electrics replaced in 2007.
Tanks:
Fuel 70 litres.
Water 100 litres.
Accommodation
4 berths. 2 quarter berths, 2 settee berths. All mahogany joinery replaced since 2007. Oak floorboards.
Galley area with Classic Taylor’s stove. Sink with footpump. Coolbox.

Forepeak with marine head, storage and sail bin.
