Wooden Ships Comments

The Cheverton Cavalier was designed by David Cheverton and many examples were built by him at his yard on the Isle of Wight.  This boat however was the second of 6 Cavaliers built by the Wing on Shing Shipyard, Hong Kong at the time, with this yacht being launched in 1966 for her first owner, Baron Coleraine of Haltemprice

As with many shipyards in Hong Kong, their proximity to the tropical rainforests gave them easy access to good hardwoods which is why this boat was planked in Burma Teak from top to bottom.

She has been owned by the present family for nearly 40 years and has cruised around the UK, Holland, through the French canals and into the Mediterranean.  Unfortunately ill health forces the sale.
