9 Ton Hillyard built by Hillyards in 1955.  Standard lines of the 9 tonner with a centre cockpit and canoe stern.  The rig has been altered to a cutter with a bowsprit and a jib on a roller furling system.

Thorough refit in 2008/2009 when a new Beta diesel was fitted, keel bolts checked and standing rigging replaced shortly after.  She has recently had a period ashore for paint and antifoul and has been sailed this autumn.

4 berths including a large double in the aft cabin.  Thorough list of electronics and equipment, everything she needs to go cruising.  Major items such as engine, sails and rigging have been replaced in recent years, she just needs a new owner who can tidy up the cosmetics a little.

Construction

Planked in 3/4″ mahogany all copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers.

Grown oak floors across the centreline.

External iron ballast keel with steel keel bolts, sample bolts last drawn in 2009.  Some internal iron ballast.

T&G pine decks sheathed in epoxy cloth and painted in deck paint.

Painted mahogany coachroof coamings and sheathed plywood coachroof deck.

Typical deep centre cockpit with varnished mahogany coamings.  Wheel steering mounted on aft bulkhead of cockpit with hydraulic coupling to the rudder.

Rig

Bermudan cutter rig on deck stepped painted wooden mast.

Varnished wooden roller reefing boom and varnished bowsprit.

Stainless steel standing rigging, 7 years old, to internal stainless steel chain plates.

Furlex roller furling jib at bowsprit end.

Mainsail, staysail, jib and storm all by Sanders sails and less than 10 years old, all in good condition.

Cockpit sheet winches, mainsheet self tailing winch and mast winch.

Machinery

Beta Marine 43hp 4cyl diesel installed new in 2009.  Only 100 hours running.

Single lever controls with stainless shaft to a centreline 4 blade feathering bronze propeller.

6 knots cruising speed at 1.25 litres/hr

100l stainless fuel tank in starboard cockpit locker

2 separate water tanks with total of 220l fresh water.

3 x 12 volt batteries for domestics and engine starting.  Installed shore power system with charging

Accommodation

Aft cabin with double berth to port.  Slightly altered from usual Hillyard layout with cupboards on the starboard side meaning the berth is solely a large double.

Heads compartment on the port side with a Jabsco sea toilet, discharges directly overboard.

Steps down from the cockpit into the main saloon with a galley to port.  Origo 2 burner spirit stove with a single stainless sink and pressurised cold water.  Various storage cupboards, shelves and work top space.

Settee berths either side with a centreline dropleaf table.  Storage cupboards and shelving space at forward end of the saloon.

Taylors paraffin stove in the saloon with Eberspacher diesel fired heating system in saloon and aft cabin.

Centreline passage going into the forecabin.  Storage area to port for warps, fenders etc.  The original berth to starboard has been altered and now has a 12v fridge mounted in it.  Could be reinstated as a berth.
